2013-05-08 08:30:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom reported first-quarter revenues down 4.5 percent year-on-year to EUR 13.8 billion. Adjusted EBITDA fell 4.3 percent to EUR 4.3 billion, giving an unchanged margin of 31.1 percent, and net profit was up 3.5 percent to EUR 564 million. Free cash flow for the first three months of the year declined 7.5 percent to EUR 1.0 billion, as capex rose almost 40 percent to EUR 3.0 billion due to the costs of new spectrum licences in the Netherlands. Deutsche Telekom maintained its full-year guidance for free cash flow of around EUR 5 billion and adjusted EBITDA of EUR 17.4 billion (excluding MetroPCS). The German operator said it resolved some major issues in the quarter, including closing the merger of T-Mobile USA and MetroPCS and the approval of new broadband regulations in Germany. T-Mobile USA reported its first growth in branded customers in four years in Q1 and has sold over half a million iPhones since launching the Apple phone in April.

Deutsche Telekom confirms new broadband data limits

2013-04-22 16:59:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom has confirmed plans to introduce data limits for its fixed-line internet connections. These limits will apply to new Call&Surf and Entertain customers, with speeds reduced to 384 kbps once their threshold has been reached. The move is in response to soaring data demand. On average, Telekom's fixed-line broadband customers use 15-20 GB. The smallest integrated data allowance will be 75 GB. As well as web surfing and sending e-mails, this volume would be sufficient to view 10 films in SD and three in HD, 60 hours of internet radio, 400 photos and 16 hours online gaming. From 02 May, Telekom will include 75 GB of data with tariffs up to 16 Mbps, 200 GB up to 50 Mbps, 300 GB up to 100 Mbps and 400 GB with tariffs up to 200 Mbps. The use of Telekom's Entertain IPTV service will not be included in the allocated data allowance.
