Second-quarter earnings for the retail sector as a whole are forecast to be lower than the prior month, despite easy year-on-year comparisons. G-III Apparel Group raised its full-year earnings outlook after more than doubling its earnings and Shoe Carnival booked an 84.6% jump in profit. J Crew moved to a loss in its latest quarter, while Bebe Stores improved its net loss and announced a licensing deal for China, and Aeropostale booked a net loss for the eleventh straight quarter.

Average export prices have been reduced in dollar temrs in order to limit their surge in euro terms, following the sharp decline of the European currency.
