For our activities in ESTEC, we are currently looking for a Product Assurance and Safety Engineer. Tasks and Responsibilities Supporting the Euclid PA S Manager in all activities related to the execution of the Product Assurance Programme for the Euclid Project and deputising for the PA S Manager as required Supporting the Tender Evaluation Process ESA Best Practice review approval of the PAS aspects of ITTs, evaluating proposals submitted in response to ITTs and supporting the selection of contractors for the project Actively participate, and represent ESA, in the Design Review Process at System, Instrument and Unit Level Support the Risk Management and Configuration Management Processes within the ESA Project Team, including the disposition of Request for Deviations and Request for Waivers RFDs RFWs Supporting the PAS Manager to ensure the effective implementation and execution of the nonconformance identification and reporting mechanisms within the contractor supply chain and confirm the correct and formal closure of NCRs Together with the Satellite Prime and the Instrument Primes, review ESA Alerts for potential impact to the Euclid project and, internally, the ESA IPNs Internal Problem Notifications, ensuring they are formally addressed and closedout Support the Satellite and Instrument Primes in monitoring the manufacturing, integration and test activities using manufacturing readiness reviews MRR, mandatory inspection points MIPs, test readiness reviews TRRs, test review boards TRBs and, where necessary, quality assurance audits Assist the PAS Manager in ensuring that all formally delivered items within the Project supply chain conform with requirements using formal acceptance reviews Delivery Review Boards DRBs Produce reports on project and review activities, including conclusions and recommendations where necessary, participate in progress meetings, when needed and reporting on project PA status Extensive travel within Europe is required. Requirements As per Job Class in engineering or technical sciences Minimum of 6 years experience in Product Assurance and Quality Assurance in the aerospace domain. Good interpersonal, organisation and communication skills, with the ability to work in a diverse team environment Knowledge of Configuration Management or the implementation of Product Assurance within a quality system certified to ISO 9001 would be an asset. CSX mostly endorses new crude oil safety requirements, hesitant on some aspects

CSX Corp. , headquartered in Jacksonville, had a mixed reaction to Friday's final rule from the U.S. Department of Transportation, which changed requirements for trains carrying flammable liquids - including crude oil and ethanol - to have stricter guidelines. "CSX endorses the more rigorous standards adopted today for the North American tank car fleet that carries flammable materials, such as crude oil and ethanol, as an important and well-researched step in making safe railroads safer," the company said in a statement.

Lack of proper safety controls leads to loss of worker's 3 fingers in metal press at area stamping company

The life of a 23-year-old man working at a metal stamping company was changed forever when three fingers on his right hand were crushed in a power press in January 2015. U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspectors say the incident at Wellington Stamping could have been prevented.
