ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY As the Senior Engineer, Satellite Telecommunications Systems you will be responsible for an endtoend usercentered process that translates business requirements stemming from the customerfacing entities and corporate development areas into technical systems that are centered around or include satellites. You will translate customer business needs into a system concept that includes planning and implementing solution sets based on MEOGEO infrastructure. These efforts will include cost and price efforts with scheduling of the system. You will also assess the performance at every step of the system implementation and collect lessons learned for future implementations. ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY The Senior Platform Network Engineer provides leadership and expertise for the implementation and operations of the SES global platform infrastructure, ensuring platforms are maintained in the most efficient manner to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction. RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Leads joint Product Development and Product Engineering teams to design, test, and implement new platform solutions Leads efforts to ensure active Incidents are actioned utilizing a Follow the Sun support methodology Serves as a point of escalation to our 24x7 NOC to insure Incidents are resolved in a timely manner in accord with SLA commitments Ensures Incident Management ticketing system is updated with correct resolutions and closure codes to promote continual improvement of the troubleshooting process Ensures SES platforms are properly reporting to Event management systems Develops and document procedures for platform operations and maintenance Plans and perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure proper operation of platform components Represents the Platform Operations team on the Change Advisory Board and suggests process changes as needed Ensures all changes to platform infrastructure adhere to established Change Management processes Defines, develops, and tracks metrics to ensure that SES platforms are optimized for performance and efficiency Maintains Master Platform Record MPR which captures all relevant technical information for all primary and 3rd party teleport platforms Maintains monthly figures of platform utilization Publishes platform utilization data to allow Product team to make informed decisions on platform growthreductionestablishment COMPETENCIES Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills Ability to work under pressure and with little or no supervision Ability to work well in a crossfunctional team environment Commitment to exceed customer expectations and continuously find ways to improve the customer experience with SES QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE 10 years of experience in satellite network implementation, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Thorough understanding of key VSAT and HTS platform technologies including Comtech Extensive TCPIP and routing knowledge BGP, OSPF, ISIS, BFD HEIGHTS, iDirect Evolution and Velocity, Gilat Skyedge and others, and how they interface with the SES core IP network. Thorough understanding of the challenges in delivering IP services over VSAT in maritime and aero mobility environments, including understanding of mobile antenna systems and beamswitching methodologies. Strong understanding of earth station design and engineering techniques as related to GEO and MEO satellite operations. Knowledge of standard earth station equipment, such as antennas systems, HPAs, frequency converters and baseband equipment. Firm understanding of IP networking protocols and design principles, including experience with Cisco and Juniper platforms Firm understanding of unique demands of delivering IP services over satellite, including development of QoS structures to mitigate effects of latency and jitter Understanding of and experience dealing with FAPVolumebased billing systems. Network analysis and management experience using SNMP, NTP, DNS, SSH, etc. Juniper certifications and experience preferred e.g. JNCIPSPJNCIESP or equivalent experience preferred Apply HERE
