Senior Engineer User Terminal Development Luxembourg Betzdorf The Senior Terminal Solutions is a key member of the SES Next Generation User Terminal development team providing technical leadership and expertise in the areas of satellite terminal and baseband systems development. The engineers primary objective is to be the technical lead for the development of a more integrated Customer Edge Terminals. This Senior engineers primary focus shall include Supporting the development of customer premise equipment CPE designed to provide value added services to our customers as well as simplify the overall terminal solution, including but not limited to performing ACU, MC and scheduling functionality, performing packet processing and MEF compliance, and providing additional products and services asdefined by product. Supporting the development of edge connectivity solutions including WIFI, LTE and 5G base station solutions Supporting the development of solar based terminal, based on future mPOWER modem and antenna developments. Supporting modem platform development and testing efforts including but not limited to SDR developments Supporting antenna developments including FPA, and vertical specific developments fixed, maritime, aero, etc PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULT AREAS Responsible for defining the CPE solutions and integrating it with the larger terminal architecture as well as coordinating the development of the core functionalities of the CPE including ACU, MC and Scheduling Work with product and networking teams to integrate core networking features include packet process and MEF certification. Supporting andor lead other strategic developments as identified by the product team including but not limited to SDR modems and solar powered terminals. Support other key terminal developments including modems, FPAs, etc. Work with product and engineering to develop edge distribution solutions including WIFI, LTE and 5G. Identifies needs, estimates costs, and justifies request priorities for integration efforts Liaise with product and sales teams to generate requirements needed for the development of the next generation terminal Effectively communicate status of ongoing projects to technical and nontechnical stakeholders Perform System Engineering design and analyses in support of the SES Networks Ground System terminal and baseband systems development and implementation Provide technical leadership to subcontractors, vendors and partners to ensure the system is delivered in a timely manner within budget, meeting all performance criteria Responsible for the development and validation of ground terminal implementation, integration, and certification processes Evaluates new and emerging technologies for introduction or integration into the technical roadmap Liaise with the other O3bNext support functions to develop an integrated system Concept of Operations Develop and document requirements, specifications, interfaces, and test plans to supporting the Operations, Maintenance and Sustainment programs Support the transition of the new terminal elements to operations ensuring the proper tools and training are in place Other adhoc tasks, as assigned by Line Manager COMPETENCIES Actively seeks listens to feedback from customers and addresses them appropriately. Provides input to supervisor in order to assist the continual improvement in service standards and delivery Analyses complex and diverse problems that could have a major impact on the organisation. This could include examining new ideas or finding the root cause of an existing problem to minimise the risk of reoccurrence Must possess strong technical skills across many different areas modems, antennas, RF components, power, etc Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English Effective communication and presentations skills in working with both technical and nontechnical support staff Ability to evaluate the work of technical staff Ability to provide accurate information to vendors and other colleagues, in a timely manner Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and projects, with welldeveloped organizational skills Eager to stay uptodate on industrytechnology trends and developments maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest developments Demonstrated performance as a reliable team player Resourcefully working through or around anything blocking actions that need to be accomplished Ability to operate in a rapidly evolving environment, adapt quickly to new information, reprioritize as needed. Ability to travel, up to 30 of the time QUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE BS in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering or Computer Science, or similar 10 years of experience in developing satellite communication systems, satellite terminal systems or satellitebased networking data systems KaBand systems experience a plus Experience in the development or application of VSAT baseband equipment Experience in development and deployment of VSAT networks At least 5 years of operational experience in remote baseband, IF, RF, antennas, and WANLAN equipment InDepth knowledge of Telecommunications Satellite Systems including VSAT systems Expert working knowledge of Satellite Communications Baseband, Network Management, and Modem systems equipment Highly experienced in developing and maintaining high availability satellite or telecommunications systems through the use of manned and unmanned facilities Thorough understanding of GEO, MEO, and LEO telecommunications satellite technologies and systems Knowledge of internet based network connectivity principles and implementation Thorough understanding of and ability to use System Engineering processes ExcellentGood command of office productivity suites i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio Working knowledge of LinuxUnix operating systems SES is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
