The Key person shall work in the Operations and Services to Users Department as part of the Flight Dynamics Team in the FLO Division and heshe shall report to the FD GEO team leader, inside the Flight Dynamics Team. The Key person shall support the Flight Dynamics routine operations of the inflight geosynchronous fleet of EUMETSAT and to the ground segment and facilities procurement for the future generation of geosynchronous satellites MTG. Support to Flight Dynamics operations for the inflight Low Earth Orbiting satellites may also be required. The tasks of the Key person will be carried out mainly at EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt, but travel mainly within Europe may be required for certain activities. PROFILE In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have at least 10 years of experience on Flight Dynamics of LEOGEO satellites in particular, the Key person shall demonstrate as a minimum the following mandatory skills Knowledge of the analytical principles for orbitattitude determination and control Experience in routine and critical operations for GEO satellites Experience with Flight Dynamics subsystems procurement. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key person to have experience with some of the following Experience in LEOP and commissioning operations Experience with NAPEOS based Flight Dynamics subsystems Experience in routine and critical operations for LEO satellites Experience with conjunction analysis systems and operations Familiarity with configuration control practices for operational software Familiarity with statistical and graphical analysis tools Skills in the area of software development and validation Experience with one or more of the following Matlab, Java, Orekit Experience with one or more of the following Fortran, C, TCL. TASKS The tasks of the Engineer in the area of GEO Flight Dynamics Engineering in support to Operations will typically include Support to the routine operations of the flight dynamics systems of the operational EUMETSAT missions, including spacecraft orbit and attitude determination, events and ground station visibility predictions Support to the monitoring, analysis and enhancements of the flight dynamics input to the processing of instrument data and products within the EUMETSAT ground segments Support to the planning, execution and evaluation of spacecraft manoeuvres, both for routine and contingency cases Maintenance of the propellant budgets and endoflife estimates for each of the operational spacecrafts Distribution of the weekly orbital information and generation of input to the Quarterly Operations Report Support to the operations preparation activities in the area of flight dynamics and mission analysis required during the development of new EUMETSAT programmes and prior to the launch of new satellites Support to LEOP and commissioning operations for future launches of GEO satellites. The tasks in the area of Flight Dynamics Engineering support to the GEO ground segment procurement will typically include Support to the procurement of the FD subsystem FDS of the Mission Operations Facility MOF for the MTG mission, including participation to design reviews, acceptance activities and familiarisation with the subsystem Support to the testing and integration of the FDS within the MTG MOF, including participation to integration activities and consolidation of interfaces with other facilities, within the MOF and between the MOF and the rest of the ground segment. The engineer will perform these activities within the frame of a request for support from GEO division which will be carried out by OPS. The engineer will also support as backup engineer the LEO Flight Dynamics routine operations for EPS this will typically include Execution of the routine operations of the EPS Flight Dynamics Facility Planning and execution of EPS spacecrafts maneuvers, as well as of their calibration, Support to the contingency operation of EPS spacecrafts, including preparation and execution of conjunction avoidance maneuvers, recovery of routine operations, safe mode support and operation transfer to the BackUp Control Centre these activities may require intervention during the night and the nonworking days Operational quality control of maneuvers and AOCS telecommands before uplink and execution onboard of the EPS spacecraft Preparation and maintenance of Flight Dynamics operational procedures for spacecraft routine, special and contingency operations, operational configuration maintenance and system management. The specific tasks will be specified in the applicable work package and mutually agreed in advance. This is a permanent position for an Engineering Consultant with at least 10 years specific experience in Quality and Product Assurance in Aerospace Space programmes. You will require good interpersonal and mediation skills together with experience on QAPA processes on satellite Ground Segments and satellite Mission Control and Operations.
