The successful applicant will join the Satellite Engineering Tools Control Ground Segment division. The division is responsible for the development of satellite simulators and hardwarein theloop test benches that are used in the Development and validation of the satellite flight software, Validation of the functional chains and HWSW interfaces of satellite equipments and the satellite itself. You will work as a key technical member for the development of satellite simulators and hardware in the loop test benches. You will be technically responsible for the design and the development and integration of specific parts of the simulator as well as for the technical follow of the external suppliers involved in the development of some of the models. You will interface closely with other engineering teams during the lifecycle of the project and work closely, at technical level, with the external suppliers to ensure the successful development of the benches. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include ModellingSoftware requirements engineering, Software design and architecture, Technical followup and responsibility of the models developed by the external subcontractor System integration and verification, System delivery and acceptance Work as a technical expert in specific areas of the simulator Conduct code reviews and inspections. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other related technical discipline. Experience in development and testing of software simulators or hardwareinthe loop test rigs Experience in the complete software lifecycle requirements, design, development, integration, testing, delivery and acceptance Experience in the development of functional models Experience in technical follow upinterfacing to external subcontractors is highly desirable Excellent knowledge and skills in software design and development in CC, Java Knowledge of one or more of the following data buses SpaceWire, MilSTD 1553 Knowledge of the ECSS software standards is desirable Thorough understanding of software development lifecycles Excellent experience in software development using CC, Java Working knowledge of Linux OS and ideally of the Eclipse SDE Working knowledge on Real Time software, would be advantageous Selfmotivated and autonomous able to work individually and within team Strong communication Proactive and honest engagement with customers. JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Duties Tasks Simulations Officers are responsible for developing the training concept and the associated Simulation Plan to train the Mission Control Team, in order to prepare them for the launch or other critical phases of an ESA mission. This includes planning and developing failure cases of increasing difficulty to be introduced into the simulations, in order to train the Mission Control Team in nonnominal operations and application of mission rules. Simulations Officers are also planned to be involved with the operational training of other staff, including but not limited to Ground Operations Managers and ESTRACK Control Centre ECC operators. The Simulations Officer service requires familiarisation with both the space and ground segment. For a particular mission, the Prime Simulations Officer is responsible for the delivery of training to the Mission Control Team, supported by a Deputy Simulations Officer. The Deputy Simulations Officer is responsible for supporting the prime Simulations Officer in the delivery of training. This includes assistance with simulator breakpoint preparation, testing of contingencies, writing briefing and debriefing messages, and running simulations. The allocation of simulations officers to missions and ground facilities training is decided by HSOONX in consultation with the relevant GSMs and SOMs. For this position the following allocation is anticipated Simulations Officer for the GALILEO mission Galileo LEOPs are being conducted by an integrated ESACNES mission operations team. The simulations officer team is currently composed of 2 CNES and 1 ESOC simulation officers. The prime simulation officer is provided by the agency being in charge of the LEOP, as such prime and deputy position are alternating. Qualifications Key personnel providing this service should have good professional experience in spacecraft andor operational applications, preferably also in the area of training.
