For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for an engineer to assist the Generic Systems and Infrastructure GSI Division performing Ground Segment engineering and design activities, initially intended to support the EPSSG programme. The position will be covering expert support in several engineering areas and disciplines covering requirements, architectural design and technical definition of ground segment subsystems their functions, performance, interfaces, procurement, integration and VV. Particular emphasis is given to the exploitation of available services provided by MultiMission Elements and to the reuse of existing generic infrastructure and elements. Tasks EUMETSAT ground segments typically consist of TTC and payload acquisition ground stations, mission control systems, data processing and archiving facilities, data dissemination facilities and the associated network elements. The engineer will carry out tasks which support activities related to initially Phase B followed by phases CD of the EPSSG Programme in the area of ground segment engineering. In the role of support to the development of EPSSG Ground Segment, the tasks of the engineer shall include Analysis of the EPSSG system requirements and contributing to the definition of the Ground Segment and subsystem requirements specification. Also taking into account the available services provided by MultiMission Elements and the reuse of existing generic infrastructure and elements, promoting and ensuring the implementation of the Ground Segment reference architecture and maintainability requirements and standards defined by TSS for the future programmes. Definition of the EPSSG system architecture and interfaces between the EPSSG elements, the MultiMission Elements and reused elements Contribution to the generation of System Design Documents and Interface Control Documents Support the generation of IVV related concepts and documents, including integration and verification plans and preliminary verification control documents. Support to the preparation of, and participation in, phase reviews at system, ground segment system and element level. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Essential The engineer shall have at least five years of experience in the following areas Experience in full lifecycle development i.e. requirements specifications, architectural design, implementation and IVV for ground segments developed preferably in the area of 247 operational remote sensing satellites Experience of ground segments which are designed and developed taking advantage of the reuse of existing generic infrastructure and functional elements System Engineering practices and experience on AIV specification and planning for large and complex satellite ground segments, preferably for remote sensing spacecraft. Desirable Ground Segment and SC Monitoring and Control systems, preferably based on SCOS2000 product Nearrealtime data processing data circulation Archive systems Nearreal time data dissemination System architectural design with the support of modelling and design tools e.g. Core8 or Enterprise Architect Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS Configuration Control processes and tools Familiarity with the ECSS standards. The key person shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Heshe shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. Heshe shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. Fluency in English is required. The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills.
