Senior Image Processing Engineer

DEIMOS is selecting one senior engineer to be integrated in the GNCAOCS Competence Centre of the Flight Systems Business Unit, to support new growth areas in Image Processing. The work of the GNCAOCS Competence Centre is oriented to the design, development, specification and validation of GNC and AOCS systems. As a matter of reference, DEIMOS activities cover Satellite formation flying, rendezvous, and active debris removal ADR Entry, descent and landing on planets Earth, Mars natural satellites Moon Launch vehicles Planetary exploration and observation Approach to planets and asteroids Interplanetary Navigation Main Duties The following types of responsibilities are envisioned Development of onboard image processing IP chain concepts as part of the GNCAOCS subsystem making use of optical sensors camera, lidar, for aeronautical and aerospace vehicles e.g. UAV, satellite rendezvous, active debris removal, Earth observation, interplanetary navigation Design, implementation, specification and validation of IP solutions Development of IP design, analysis and simulation engineering tools Education Required A recognized engineering degree Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronic or a related degree e.g. Physics Desired Postgraduate studies M.Sc or Ph.D with a focus on aeronautical aerospace engineering and providing a solid background in at least two of the following Image processing techniques, covering the whole chain from acquisition to postprocessing Pattern recognition techniques Filtering and estimation techniques GNCAOCS principles Professional Experience Required Engineer with at least 4 year experience in the practical application of the domains relevant to the post relevant M.Sc PhD studies would also be considered The position will be tailored to the level of experience and additional industrial experience would be viewed very positively. Technical Requirements Required The following capabilities are required for the post Solid theoretical background in image processing and estimation. Practical experience in aeronauticalaerospace image processing experience in ESAEuropean programmes is welcome Knowledge of Linux environment and good programming skills Personal Skills Capability to integrate in and work within a team Initiative Autonomy and selfdevelopment Responsibility towards the customer and colleagues Willing to travel frequently and to spend time periods collocated in different DEIMOS branches Team leader if experience above 45 years
