Ukrtelecom launches IPTV in Ukraine

Ukrtelecom JSC (PFTS: UTLM) has announced the launch of its 'Interactive TV' IPTV service. Ukrtelecom broadband customers have the option of three different packages of up to 136 channels including 12 in high definition.

EPIC sells Ukrtelecom to SCM for undisclosed sum

(Telecompaper) SCM, a company owned by Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov, has acquired fixed-line operator Ukrtelecom from Austrian investment firm EPIC for an undisclosed sum, reports Reuters. SCM is buying a 92.79 percent stake in Ukrtelecom, but declined to say how much it was paying. EPIC paid USD 1.3 billion for Ukrtelecom in 2011, and analysts expect SCM is paying a similar price. Ukrtelecom controls about 80 percent of Ukraine's fixed-line market and also holds the country's only 3G licence. SCM also owns another Ukrainian fixed-line operator, Vega, and holds a minority stake in mobile operator Astelit (Life:).
