Mission As a member of the Generic and Systems Infrastructure Division GSI, the key person shall provide support to the development and maintenance of data services systems. The duties range from the support to the operation of the EUMETSAT Earth Observation Portal to the analysis, design, development testing and maintenance of software functions maintained developed within the Data Services Engineering Team. This may includes the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures, the support to the procurement of hardware and software, and the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. The particular focus on the tasks to be performed are the operational support and the design, implementation and testing of software corrections and evolutions. In particular the tasks will include Operational Support for data services systems o Monitoring the performance and behavior o Problem Investigation and anomaly raising o First Line System and Software support o Installation of software o OnCall support see section 5.2 Design, implementation and testing of software corrections and evolutions o User Interface Development o Server Side Development Testing o Unit and Integration Testing o Acceptance and integration of external software o Verification Validation support Requirements management o Review and analysis of user requirements o Specification of system and software requirements Generation and maintenance of technical documentation o System and Software Requirements o Architectural Design o Interface Control Documents o Software Unit and Integration Test Plans o Maintenance Procedures Participation and organisation of technical meetings and formal reviews Preparation and production of routine reports In the performance of these activities the key person shall follow the relevant operations change control and maintenance procedures. Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person must have excellent team working skills, being able to work autonomous and have good analytical skills. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas minimum 5 years for each 1. System Maintenance Skills o Extensive experience in the provision of first line support for operational systems, which includes the monitoring of the performance, problem investigation, coordination of resolutions and oncall support. 2. Software Engineering Skills o Extensive experience in designing and developing software components and applications in the Java programming language under Unix Sun Solaris, Linux using Object Oriented OO approach including design patterns for web portals. o Extensive experience in developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMSand management of their schema. 3. System Development Maintenance Skills o Strong technical expertise for translating user requirements into software requirements, architecture evolution and implementation. o Extensive experience in software development and maintenance using a formal life cycle resulting in deliveries to customers. This includes requirements management, software design and implementation reflecting corrective and evolutions of software components. o Extensive experience in software validation and verification related activities test procedure generation, nonregression testing, requirements verification and validation. 4. Documentation and Software Configuration Management Skills o Experience in using software configuration management, anomaly reporting and tracking tools. 5. Software Technology Skills o Java programming language o User interface development using JSF MyFaces, Primefaces o Web Services Apache CFX o Tomcat application server o Oracle JDBC, SQL and PLSQL o XML, XML Schema and XSLT technologies o Software Source Code control system SubVersion o Software Building and Package management ant, maven o Unit testing frameworks JUnit o Eclipse. Our client is seeking an Archive and Data Services Engineer to join the Data Centre Operations Team in the User Support and Climate Services Division. A key aspect of the role will be to provide requirements, documentation and support which are necessary for the required evolutions of the Archive and the related ondemand data access services. Typical tasks and responsibilities will include to support MTG Programme reviews with the view to assess their impact on the ondemand Data Access System which comprises the EUMETSAT Data Centre Archive and other related ondemand User data services where archived data is provided to support the translation of the MTG Programme user requirements into detail system requirements of the ondemand data access services, to provide support to the MTG Development Programme covering all aspects of the User Support and Climate Services Division, to contribute to the preparation of the MTG Validation and Verification VV activities and commissioning in respect to the data access system this includes validation of Output formats and performance assessments of the system to contribute to the definition and enhancement of the end user interfaces for the ondemand data access services, e.g. data access interfaces, delivery mechanisms, product visualisation, enhance and automate the reporting of the Data Centre usage to provide regular and configurable reports of current and future data holdings, to support the Climate Data Processing and Satellite Intercalibration activities of the Division by extracting relevant and available metadata from the Archive and making them accessible to users via Web Technologies, to represent the User Support and Climate Services Division in relevant meetings and workshops, to liaise with the Format Advisory Group on proposed MTG related delivery formats. All candidates should have experience in the field of Earth Observation EO data or metadata handling, working with Web Technologies e.g. Java GWT, JQuery etc. and hands on experience in shell scripting along with experience in the definition validation of system and user requirements, writing test plans and related documentation for validation of the developed systems for operations and the ability to translate EO Data Access related requirements into detail system requirements. Experience in the following areas would be an advantage Meteorological Climate Research User Community, EO data formats e.g., NetCDF, HDF5, BUFR, etc and visualisation of these formats, OGC standards and Web Map Services Geographical Information Systems, XML technologies for the definition of data format representation, meta data standards, SQL for extracting Database Information, software testing tools, requirements management tool DOORS, skills for presenting proposed concepts, development status, and results. All candidates must have a University or similar degree in a relevant Engineering, Computer Science, or Science and be fluent in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of French would be an advantage.

Tasks The EUMETSAT Data Centre Archive currently provides ingestion, archiving, cataloguing and retrieval services to the MTP, MSG and EPS Programmes, for the EUMETSAT user community.
