Do you have PhD in Astronomy or related field and postdoctorallevel experience. Strong track record of delivering published research in astronomy andor instrumentation, with significant observational experience in radiosubmm astronomy. Understanding of interferometric techniques in longwavelength astronomy. About this opportunity We are looking for an enthusiastic astronomer to join our team working on the development of the Square Kilometre Array Observatory SKAO. Construction of the SKAO will start later this year and, when complete, it will be the worlds most sensitive radio telescope. Your role will be as a Product Owner in the development and delivery of the SKAO Observatory Science Operations tools. You will bring significant scientific experience in observational astronomy. In joining our local team and international partners, you will shape the ways in which the SKAO will be used and steer development of the required software. You will also contribute more broadly to the scientific activities at the UKATC, including development of future projects and investigating applications of our technologies to other fields. You will be expected to pursue your own research programme in an area reflecting the science priorities of projects in development at the UKATC. For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for a MTG User Preparation Project Scientist Engineer. Tasks and Responsibilities You will support the MTG user preparation activities through coordination of the MTG User Preparation Project. Additionally, you will support some of the user engagement activities identified in this Project and part of the User Support Team and will work with experts across EUMETSAT and partners organisations. Your main tasks, within the coordination role, are Maintain the MTG User Preparation Project plan and associated documentation and schedule related activities Collect and collate project inputs from all internal stakeholders, in particular those parts of the Remote Sensing and Products RSP Division providing the scientific development support for the MTG Programme and the teams within the Geostationary Programme Division GEO responsible for providing the operational Level 1 and Level 2 processors Arrange and attend regular MTG User Preparation Project team meetings and prepare meeting reports as required Record and monitor any open actions associated with the MTG User Preparation Project Prepare inputs to management reports on the status of the MTG User Preparation Project Keep abreast of guidelines issued by the WMO regarding user readiness activities for next generation satellites and prepare inputs and followup actions as required. Your main tasks, within the supporting preparation activities, are Support external coordination and user engagement activities for MTG user preparation, e.g. supporting RSP workshops, preparing and collating results from user surveys, etc. Support the Web Content Developers in the preparation of content for the MTG user information area on the EUMETSAT website Support the Training Team with updated information on the status of the MTG User Preparation Project for inclusion in training events. Requirements Essentials In addition to having a university degree in relevant discipline, preferably in remote sensing, meteorology or environmental sciences, you should meet the following essential criteria Proven experience in project coordination or a project management role An ability to relate to user groups of remotely sensed data and products Experience in remote sensing related to meteorological observation needs Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Experience in preparing and maintaining information for users Experience in using project planning tools like MS Project or similar Experience of working in partnership across organisational boundaries. This will be demonstrated through at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in relevant disciplines. Fluency in English is mandatory and a working knowledge of French would be a significant advantage. Desirables Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for you to have experience with Supporting previous user preparation activities in the Earth Observation arena Working with the meteorological user community, in particular national weather services Appreciation of the whole processing chain from satellite data sensing to use of a product. You should be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision, acting as a credible and professional representative of EUMETSAT.
