The European GNSS Agency GSA is responsible for the operations and service provision for the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems GNSS EGNOS and Galileo. By developing a new generation of GNSS, Europe is laying the foundation for new hightechnology industry development, leading to job creation and economic growth. Galileo Services department is in charge of managing the exploitation phases of the Galileo Programme, and in particular will Manage the execution of the Galileo exploitation phase in compliance with the European Commission EC GSA delegation agreements, controlling the associated schedule, costs and risks Analyse, define and implement the Galileo exploitation concept Manage the Galileo infrastructure operations, maintenance, protection, ongoing improvement and evolutions activities, through associated contracts andor working arrangements Manage the standardisation activities associated with the Galileo Programme Manage the operational interfaces and services provision to the Galileo users TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Galileo Service Engineer will actively contribute to the definition and implementation of the Galileo services, which are evolving from the current Initial Services up to the Galileo Full Operational Capability, and beyond. Heshe will have the following nonexhaustive list of tasks and responsibilities Contribute to the maintenance of Galileo Mission Requirements and associated service roadmaps Define Open Service OS, Commercial Service CS and Search and Rescue SAR Service Requirements Prepare CS, OS and SAR service definition activities including technical assessments, feasibility analyses and related studies and demonstrations Prepare OS, CS and SAR Service Definition Document SDD outlining the Galileo service commitments towards users Organise and follow on the service validation campaign Contribute to the evaluation of the OS, CS and SAR Service Performance Plan Galileo standardisation support activities, including the execution of the associated technical activities Develop the Galileo services standardisation within the different user communities and standardisation fora ICAO, IMO, EUROCAE, RTCA Develop and maintain Galileo user segments standard requirements, design and operating concepts incl. Minimum Operational Performance Specifications Coordinate the work of contractors in support of the above activities Liaise with Galileo stakeholders European Commission, European Space Agency Liaise with other GSA departments as needed Support the Galileo Services team for any topics related to Galileo services, mission and system evolution including the Galileo Second Generation, and contribute to any other tasks of the Department, as necessary MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The selection procedure is open to applicants who satisfy the following minimal requirements, on the closing date for application A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma when the normal period of university education is four years or more OR A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies attested by a diploma and at least one year of appropriate professional experience when the normal period of university education is three years In addition to the above, appropriate professional experience of at least six years after obtaining the required diploma Be a national of a Member State of the European Union or Norway Be entitled to his or her full rights as citizen Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the applicable laws concerning military service Meet the character requirements for the duties involved Have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the European Union and a satisfactory knowledge of another language of the European Union to the extent necessary for the performance of hisher duties Be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post APPLICATION PROCEDURE In order to be considered for this position, candidates need to create an account by registering via the GSA erecruitment tool.
