When Amega West closes its Tyler facility in the next couple of months, 60 employees will lose their jobs, officials confirmed. William J. Rudolph, Jr., director of corporate communications for Amega West's parent company, Carpenter Technology Corporation, confirmed that the local facility will close permanently sometime between April 21 and May 5. "Approximately 60 employees are impacted by the closure, which was prompted by current business conditions and the need to centralize our operations to improve efficiencies," Rudolph said last week in an email.

Environmentalists and property owners in the path of the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline were seeking repeal of a 2004 state law that allows interstate natural gas companies to do testing and surveying on private property without the consent of the owner. Richmond-based Dominion Resources is joining other utilities seeking to build the $5 billion, 550-mile pipeline that would bring gas to the coast from Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
