Two companies are looking at building large facilities along the Mississippi River south of New Orleans where they can export natural gas to the world market, another sign of the expanding footprint of the natural gas industry in Louisiana. Until now, the area around Lake Charles has been the centre of a boom in the market to import and export natural gas with 10 projects in various stages of development there.

Chevron starts natural gas production from two new wells in Bangladesh

Chevron has started producing gas from two new wells in the Bangladeshi state of Sylhet, aimed at easing the country's chronic energy shortages. The U.S oil and energy company, the largest foreign investor in the Bangladesh's energy sector, will initially produce around 130 million cubic feet of gas per day from the Jalalabad field, located 280 kilometers from the capital Dhaka.

2 slightly hurt in natural gas plant fire in West Texas

Company officials say two people have been slightly hurt in a fire at natural gas processing plant in West Texas, near the New Mexico border. Anadarko Petroleum Corporation says the accident happened Thursday morning at the Ramsey plant near Orla .
