St. Louis - A jury has sided with a St. Louis company in its battle with Frito-Lay over bowl-shaped tortilla chips. Frito-Lay sued St. Louis-based Ralcorp Holdings in February 2012 in U.S. District Court in Dallas, claiming Ralcorp and its Medallion Foods subsidiary infringed on intellectual property rights making Bowlz corn chips, a product similar to Frito-Lay's Tostitos Scoops! chips.

A Port Richmond woman has no legal standing to file a $400 million lawsuit on behalf of her daughter and granddaughter, who were believed to have drowned in a swollen North Carolina creek three years ago while being chased by a store security officer, ruled a federal judge. In dismissing Annette Johnson's lawsuit against Burlington Coat Factory, Senior District Judge Edward R. Korman said she has not received the requisite letters of administration nor been named executor of the estates of her daughter, Gracie Nell Johnson, and granddaughter, Rianna Tarell Johnson, who are former borough residents.

District Judge Orders LG Electronics To Arbitrate In TV Patent Suit

The Southern District of New York ordered LG Electronics Inc. to arbitrate with technology patent licensing company Wi-LAN Inc. a dispute over whether certain LG television models infringe patents LG does not own. The current dispute can be traced back to a 2012 Florida suit in which Wi-LAN alleged that two of its patents for video display technology were used in LG's flat panel televisions without their consent.

A judge with the state's public utilities commission has banned all back-channel contact between commission members and the state's largest utility for at least a year. The ruling Thursday by Administrative law Judge Hallie Yacknin also bans Pacific Gas & Electric Co.
