Main responsibilities The candidate shall provide service to the activities of ground segment developments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications. In doing this, the candidate shall support The follow up of the detailed design and development activities of Phase CD of the future ground segments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications mainly for supporting EPS SG activities Engineering activities of Phase B of future ground segments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications The maintenance and evolution in phase E to the other programmes within EUMETSAT MSG, EPS, Jason, in the areas of Telecommunications, RF and Ground Stations. The candidate shall provide service to a multidisciplinary system engineering team. The SEP Ground Stations Engineering Team Leader will be the primary technical point of contact. In the performance of these tasks, the candidate shall apply the relevant organisational and programmatic quality management procedures as well as the relevant ground stations system engineering standards. Ideal candidate Essentials The candidate shall have a university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks. Heshe shall have, as a prerequisite, a demonstrated experience in a similar function for at least 5 years. This experience shall include in particular Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for TT C Ground stations system and subsystem design and development for mission specific andor satellite communications ground stations TT C baseband equipment and SLE compliant implementations Technical background in the specification and V V of ground stations and large antennas and tracking systems for GEO and LEO satellites Knowledge of modulationdemodulation schemes applied by Ground to Space ICD for TTC and payload data transmission e.g. ECSS and CCSDS Standards. Desirables In addition, the knowledge and experience of the following processesareas is considered as an asset Competence and experience in the engineering processes for managing requirements from the definition phase through the traceability, verification, validation and maintenance stages using formal methods and tools e.g. DOORs Design and requirements engineering of large and complex Earth Observation related ground stations Usage of High Data Rate Demodulators System experience with Link budget analysis and tools in S, X and Ka Band. Standard RF and microwave tools and SW package for generation of signal processing related simulations andor semiautomated measurement procedures. The candidate shall be in possession of sound organisational and interpersonal skills to conduct the responsibilities described above autonomously and without supervision, exhibiting good oral and written communications skills, analytical capabilities, and motivation. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the candidate must be able to work effectively in this language. As a Ground Segment Systems Engineer you will have the opportunity to be involved in the development and operations of the ground control segment where you will contribute to the development, maintenance and validation of mission control systems used in an innovative space mission for our clients in UK.
