After spending six months of trying to spin off or sell its solar business, Advanced Energy said it will take a $260 million-$290 million charge to wind down its solar inverter business. The Fort Collins company didn't estimate how many employees would be affected by layoffs in the solar business, but said it expects cash costs for severance to total up to $45 million.
