Flight Dynamics Engineer Additional Service for EXOMARS RSPJUICEEUCLID mfd

Job description For our customer, ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking for Flight Dynamics Operations Engineers who should provide support to Science missions in one of the following domains GNC telemetry monitoring GNC command generation Orbit Determination Trajectory optimization but who might be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional service, missions and activities within the scope of general Flight Dynamics operations engineering services. Primary activities are related to EXOMARS RSP, JUICE and EUCLID but they may also be required for missions like GAIA, Bepi Colombo, Mars Express, ExoMars TGO and Hera. This is a fulltime position to be located at ESOCs premises in Darmstadt with the planned start date as soon as possible in 2021 but not later than 1st February 2021. Approx. 400 hours per year of oncall and one European mission per year are foreseen. Responsibilities The general activities to be supported by the service are, depending on the assigned task and phase of the mission Command Generation Execution of and support to operational tasks Generation of task related command parameters Generation of task related reports Mission Planning Support Execution of and support to operational tasks Generation of mission planning related products, such as schedules and planning input Attitude and TM monitoring Retrieval of TM of the onboard GNC systems Decoding and analysis of GNC TM Sensor and actuator calibration Generation of auxiliary data for mission exploitation Trajectory optimization Trajectory definition Analysis and implementation of trajectory targets and constraints Trajectory optimisation and determination of optimum manoeuvre strategies. Orbit determination Preprocessing of measurements Orbit determination Generation of orbital products Orbit geometry analysis Flight Dynamics Application Layer Maintenance of elements of the Flight Dynamics Application Layer Flight Dynamics System Development Specification and implementation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Participation in tests Setup procedures Flight Dynamics SubSystem configuration Coordination of internal and external interfaces and activities across subsystems Qualifications Competencies In addition to having a university degree in a relevant engineering field, astronomy, mathematics or physics, you shall have covered until now as many topics as follows Essential skills are Very good skills in linear algebra, in particular for problem solving related to geometry in the Euclidean 3dimensional space. Very good skills in calculus in one or several variables. Skills in numerical methods for equations solving, integration of differential equations, function approximation and interpolation, optimisation, linear algebra problems. Very good skills in classical mechanics, including kinematics and dynamics of point masses, dynamics of rigid bodies, dynamics expressed in noninertial reference frames conservation laws in mechanics, gravitational forces and field, orbit dynamics, keplerian orbits and Kepler laws. Ability to define, implement, validate and operate software which applies the above solutions, using C as main programming language knowledge of UnixLinux, scripting languages and Fortran 77952003 is a valuable an asset. Will to take operational responsibility in multidiscipline teams. Fluency in English, both in speech and writing. Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Ability to work independently. Desirable skills are Being familiar with different representations of rotation in 3D, thus including the representation of SC attitude cosine direction matrix, Euler symmetric parameters quaternions, Eulerangles ... is an asset. Ability to solve mechanics problems via analytical mechanics methods e.g. lagrangian formulation is a valuable asset. Familiarity with the ESOC environment. Familiarityexperience with Flight Dynamics operations engineering tasks. Experience dealing with external interfaces. Experience with Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration The ability to multitask efficiently working on multiple activities, multiple subsystems and if applicable multiple missions simultaneously. ExoMars Senior Software Engineer

p Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESAC and ESTEC. Aurora is the largest Service provider at ESAC and require a replacement for our senior engineer who is retiring. Overview The Software Engineer will prepare and execute the system engineering for the Science Operations Centre SOC, part of the Science Ground Segment SGS. SOC tasks include various aspects of science operations planning, instrument handling, science data processing and archiving. The main duties of the System Engineer may include Conducting the system requirements engineering process for the SOC including requirements traceability Defining the SOC system architecture down to the level of individual functionalities and software architecture where applicable Coordinating the design, implementation and testing of the SOC systems with a focus on the integrity and efficiency on corresponding development plans Followup the SW design and implementation activities in order to make sure that the implemented software and hardware fulfil the system subsystem requirements. As well, support the assignation of requirements subsystem sw subtasks to the sw releases. Defining and executing the implementation, acceptance and testing of the various SOC subsystems Maintenance of the SW tools employed to provide support services to the scientific community Defining and formalizing the required SOC interfaces Support the Archive development by following up closely the Archive detailed design definition and its implementation coordinate with ESDC through technical and progress meetings, as required. Coordination for the development of MAPPSEPS tools Interaction with the Mission Operations Centre at ESOC and the various instrument teams. Define, implement and test MOC interfaces using GFTSEDDS etc. as appropriate. Defineagree and implement community interfaces Preparation and maintenance of SW documentation Cooperate with other on engineering matters e.g. promote the exchange of information with missions that have various similarities Performing required status reporting and supporting reviews. Specific qualification requirements Masters degree, preferably Software Engineering. At least 4 years of software engineering experience in Java. Preferably experience with Space Operations Software and an understanding of satellite operations. Experience working in an international environment. Excellent communication skills notably in interfacing with different stakeholders with diverse backgrounds for example Scientists. You must be able to work in English. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in Spain without the need to obtain a work visa. Only European Union citizens can be employed by Aurora in Spain. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA.
