Are you a remote sensing scientist with a background in physics and radiative transfer looking to advance your career in a high tech and modern industry? EUMETSAT, Europes Meteorological Satellite Agency, has an exciting opportunity within their Remote Sensing and Products Division for an Algorithm Expert to support the new Lightning Imager LI mission on board EUMETSATs planned Meteosat Third Generation MTG satellite programme. This is a leading scientific role that will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to manage the scientific and algorithm development activities on one of EUMETSATs core programmes the MTG programme aims to guarantee access to spaceacquired meteorological data until at least the late 2030s. This role shall enable the key candidate to utilise and explore their scientific knowledge whilst working in a professional environment alongside industry experts. They shall support the development and prototyping of the algorithms to be implemented by the Lightening Imager Level 1 and Level 2 processing chains and the validation and monitoring of products. Along with a Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, the key candidate shall have skillsexperience in each of the following areas Solid background in remote sensing physics and radiative transfer, preferably in the visible part of the spectrum Experience of developing scientific applications software, and experience in pursuing scientific development projects involving user communities, researchers and engineers Strengths in analysis, synthesis and presentation The successful candidate shall have good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to apply this in and across teams. Familiarity with nearreal time processing of meteorological satellite data and functional analysis, including calibration andor validation would be considered advantageous. All applicants must be EUMETSAT member state nationals with a good working knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written.
