NY's Craft Beverage Industry To Get Boost From Latest State Budget

New York's wine, beer, cider and spirits industry is getting some more help from the State with a new proposal outlined in the latest state budget. The proposed tax exemption will allow a 'Use Tax' to be waived for products that are produced for sale but are used for promotional events like tastings.

IPC President releases statement on U.S. Government FY16 budget.

Released by President Obama, Fiscal Year 2016 Budget of U.S. Government includes funding to expand National Network of Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) as well as 5.5% increase from 2015 of $146 billion for R&D initiatives. In his statement on behalf of IPC, John Mitchell applauded Obama "for his commitment to grow advanced manufacturing and increase federal R&D investment." Mitchell also noted both aspects as "critical" to IPC’s Global Policy Framework for 2015.

BIO President says FY 2016 budget threatens medical innovation.

In response to President Obama's FY 2016 budget proposal, BIO's Jim Greenwood cited provisions proposing changes to biologic data exclusivity and cuts to Medicare Part D and B as "deeply troubling" and claimed they would be "detrimental to the development of new cures and treatments for patients in need." Amidst prise for other aspects, Greenwood noted BIO will continue to work with Administration "in pursuit of public policies that encourage investment in biotech innovation."
