Despite central Ohio's hot real-estate market, home prices in the Columbus area failed to keep pace with the rest of the nation in the past year, according to figures released by the National Association of Realtors on Tuesday. The trade group found that the median sales price of a central Ohio home during the second quarter was $172,000, up from $162,600 a year earlier.

A lawsuit against Whirlpool Corp. has been settled over contaminated land in northern Ohio near where dozens of children were sickened with cancer. The land owners settled their suit earlier this summer - months after the children's families dropped their lawsuit against Whirlpool linking the company's washing machine plant with the cancer cluster.

The owners of contaminated land in northern Ohio near where dozens of children were sickened with cancer have settled their lawsuit against Whirlpool Corp. The move was made after Whirlpool agreed to clean up contaminated soil at the site outside Clyde where the company operates a washing machine factory. The lawsuit had accused the company of dumping potentially cancer-causing waste from the plant at the site that later became a company park.
