As part of its mandate, the section operates an Optics Laboratory Unit for optical component and system verification. The contractor will support the activities in this laboratory by performing the following tasks Daytoday operation and maintenance of the Optics Laboratory Unit comprising General maintenance and servicing of optical, electrooptical and electronics measurement equipment and instrumentation in order to assure that the relevant equipment is in an operational state General operation and maintenance of the Optics Laboratory cleanroom Procurement of laboratory materials, chemicals and consumables Contribution to the identification, selection and specification of new equipment Installation and maintenance of computer software and hardware for measurement data acquisition and analysis Stock and equipment inventory tracking Logging of all laboratory activities Implementation of safety rules Planning, settingup and execution of experiments and measurements of optical and optoelectronics systems, devices and components Provision of expert advice on optical verification methods and optical material issues in support to projects and technology RD Analysis, evaluation, reporting and interpretation of optical measurement data and results Experience and Education Academic qualification in Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering with experience in Optical Design, or equivalent qualification by experience. Minimum 4 years of project andor industrial experience in the design, and analysis of optical instrumentation. Solid experience in precision optical measurements at system, subassembly and component level. Good technical judgement and solid communications skills verbal and in writing. Experience in space project work. Proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest for innovative technologies. Position Specific Requirements Very good analytical skill, good command of at least one of the following SW packages Matlab, IDL, Mathematica. Experience with Zeemax and or Code V. Knowledge of ASAP is an asset Experience in testing of various types of Optics is desirable asset. Proactive attitude to solving problems and an interest for innovative technologies. Interested?
