For our activities, we are currently looking for two Software Systems Integration Engineers. Our customer is a leader in Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance C4ISR systems, combining sensors and advanced networks to create entirely new ways of perceiving the world. Their Defence Intelligence Solutions DIS business is an industry leader in Geospatial Intelligence GEOINT and a trusted partner for MOD. Over the past 30 years, our customer has developed a deep understanding of Defence Intelligence missions through its involvement in multiple UK and international programmes, and has the domain knowledge and mission understanding crucial to the success of their customers. In recent years, our customer has partnered with MOD to successfully overcome challenges and complexities. The programme is a very dynamic, information technologyfocused effort with multiple subcontractors supporting an operationally oriented customer with numerous mission critical demands. The systems include a collection of infrastructure components of servers, storage, workstations, networking and printers, and also a number of image analysis, processing, storage and retrieval software solutions. The systems are deployed across a number of sites in the UK with a mobile field deployed component for use in the UK and abroad. Tasks and Responsibilities The successful candidate will find themselves working on programmes at various stages of the systems engineering lifecycle, gaining experience and an understanding of how Engineering and how our customer operate. You will progressively develop technical, interpersonal, team working and other valuable skills that are fundamental to the business. Your capabilities will increase through both on the job work experience, and our commitment to continuous professional development. We are seeking a software and systems integration engineer to support the phases of a design, build, integration, configuration and test for replacement of or modifications to elements of these systems. The role involves engineering in the full systems engineering lifecycle from requirements analysis through to design, build, test and acceptance into live service. The role will include validating and verifying the design artefacts from internal teams or subcontractors and supporting the integration and testing of the third party subsystem deliverables. There is also system transitioning and data migration to be planned, designed and tested. The main tasks of the role are Translate roadmap plans into product requirements Develop product functionality, user interfaces and performance improvements Document design and advise on product support material Investigate product issues and develop solutions to customer problems Develop test plans and methodologies to ensure product meets our customers quality standards Lead continuous technical improvement and rearchitecting activities as directed by the Service Team management Updating software design artefacts Interfacing with COTS vendors for technical support Provide technical support e.g. Requirements Analysis and System Design to our customers programmes delivering new capability into operations Validating design documentation from subcontractor teams Implement the detailed design by building Linux and Windows servers, Windows workstations, configuring storage, network switches, installing COTS applications Locking down the system using GAP and SCM generated Active Directory GPOs Preparing and executing test scripts Preparing system data migration and transition plans Analyse and resolve system defects. Requirements Essentials Candidates will need to be UK Nationals and will require to be security cleared. Good experience of software and systems engineering principles Recent practical experience of successfully integrating COTS products Solid grounding in the systems engineering lifecycle preferably with experience on large complex secure systems Proven track record in the maintenance of complex IT systems Experience in IT architectures in a classified environment A proven track record of making a significant contribution to the success of a number of programmes J2EE 3 years minimum specifically with web application development Eclipse or similar IDE Experience working with XML through Java Google Web Toolkit Dojo Toolkit and Javascript Oracle 10g11g programming in PLSQL and Java SCM tools, e.g. Rational Clearcase Good understanding of SoftwareSystems engineering principles Able to carry out duties with minimal supervision Knowledge and firsthand experience of the systems engineering lifecycle Experience of the installation and configuration of Windows server software and Windows workstations Expertise in the integration and configuration of COTS software to meet defined system requirements e.g. Sophos, Lumension Device Control, Whats Up, MS Office, ESRI ArcGIS, ERDAS Imagine, BAE SOCET SET, Photoshop, Oracle, SQL Server, etc. Knowledge of using Active Directory and Group Policy Objects to enforce security requirements Experience in integration test and requirements verification Experience of integrating engineering components from a subcontractor Configuration management experience Experienced implementing hardware and software integration projects Knowledge of the integration of computer hardware including networking in a secure environment Problem analysis and resolution in a secure environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Willingness to work out of hours on occasion Willing and able to obtain the highest levels of UK Security Clearances.
