We are currently looking for an Applications Engineer to support our customer in Germany. Applications Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Supporting Applications Engineering Division and member of the SEP Data Processing System Applications and Tools Group at EUMETSAT, you will have the following responsibilities Definition, design, implementation and maintenance of architectures for data processing ground segments and their components Support the operations of existing data processing ground segments and their maintenance and evolution e.g. Product Quality Control and CalVal Facilities Upgrade SW, implementing and maintaining new algorithms for product quality control and calibrationvalidation activities Build and distribute SW releases and patches, configuration management of SW developed by third parties, follow up the delivery of SW resolutions SW integration and verification in the EUMETSAT ground segments Coordination with external providers of support services, generation of related reports, participation in meetings and formal reviews. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Several years of experience in software maintenancedesigningtrouble shooting of realtime data processing systems for Earth Observation missions CC programming languages in UnixLinux based environment Programming of database systems Oracle, Informix, PostgreSQL, MySQL Shell scripting, Python and Java languages Ability to work independently as well as good communication skills XML, Fortran, IDL, Web Programming will be considered as an additional asset Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of French language is an advantage.
