We are currently looking for a System Software Engineer to support our customer in Germany. Archive System Software Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities Our customer is a European organisation providing weather and climaterelated satellite data, images and products for its users. In this role you will provide support to the development and maintenance of the Data Centre Archive and will be integrated within the Data Service Engineering team. You will have the following responsibilities Monitoring system performance and behaviour First line System and Software support including oncall support Big Data management and related troubleshooting Software installation and configuration management Unit and integration testing, acceptance and integration of external software and verification validation support Requirements management including review and analysis of user requirements Generation and maintenance of technical documentation e.g. system and software requirements, interface control documents, maintenance procedures Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline Extensive experience in the provision of first line support for operational systems Experience with hierarchical storage management systems big data processing Experience in designing and developing Java software components applications Extensive experience in developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS Strong technical expertise for translating user requirements into software requirements, architecture evolution and implementation Experience in using software configuration management, anomaly reporting and tracking tools Software Technology Skills in Java, Meteorological Data Format Conversions, Big Data Management, C programming language and Standard Template Library STL, Software Building and Package management and Eclipse. Fluency in English is mandatory. This job is located in Darmstadt. We are looking for candidates who are available from January 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter.
