Blackberry, Samsung, IBM to launch secure tablet at CeBIT

2015-03-16 09:10:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Secusmart, BlackBerry's security subsidiary, has joined forces with Samsung and IBM to develop a high-security tablet aimed at public sector and business markets. The SecuTablet is based on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and features the SecuSuite portoflio for BlackBerry 10, which includes voice and data communication encryption. Although the device allows personal apps such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and WhatsApp, it has been wrapped in secure app technology by IBM, which has been working with Secusmart to secure data on the move for various government clients. Blackberry said the SecuTablet is currently undergoing certification at the German Federal Office for Information Security for a classified-level security rating. The SecuTablet will be presented at CeBit in Hannover on 16-20 March. Although no information on pricing and availability was disclosed by Blackberry, the Wall Street Journal said the tablet would be shipping in the summer at a cost of USD 2,380.
