'Cat in The Hat' Author's 112th Birthday Celebrated

The 112th birthday of whimsical children's book author Ted "Dr. Seuss" Geisel was celebrated today in San Diego and around the U.S. with Read Across America Day and an event at the library named after him at UC San Diego. Geisel was born March 2, 1904, in Springfield, Massachusetts, and first used the pen name Dr. Seuss on a cartoon in the Saturday Evening Post in 1927.
