Communications and Networks Systems Engineer, Germany

Our client, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. One of their objectives is to contribute to the operational monitoring of the climate and the detection of global climate changes. They are seeking a Communications and Networks Systems Engineer to be part of the Comms team supporting all phases of communications system specification, design, development, operations and evolution for all comms systems. The Consultant shall have the following mandatory skills and experience at least five years experience in the area of specification, design, implementation, verification and maintenance of Communications systems Internet Protocol network design, specification, documentation, testing, fault finding, and evolution. Indepth knowledge of Cisco design methodologies, technologies and solutions ideally including enterprise WLAN infrastructure. It will be beneficial if the key person holds current Cisco certifications or equivalent Familiarity with the trend to virtualise the above technologies and to recommend and justify when and why such approaches may be optimal, in addition to then deploying and supporting them e.g. SDNs. Security skills associated with securing the communication system e.g. next generation firewalls, VPN, intrusion detection and prevention, strong authentication. Skills appropriate to associated domains e.g. computing clientserver, storage, dissemination. Network performance monitoring in terms of both the network and the applicationssystems it supports in terms of supporting fault finding, documentation, performance tuning, capacity and configuration management etc. Familiarity with IP based Telephony Systems The working language is English.
