This is a permanent position, calling for experience of Configuration Management, including build, deployment and installation processes on large softwareintensive high availability operational systems. You will be placed on assignment based near Frankfurt in Germany for several years. Candidates should ideally be available to start in September 2015 or earlier. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. Vast quantities of data are produced and user communities throughout the world are able to access both current and historical data sets. The demanding realtime environment places much emphasis on adherence to quality and configuration management standards and procedures. The main working language is English. The role will embrace configuration and documentation management for a number of satellite missions. Tasks involved are Implementing Configuration Management and Documentation Management plans, processes and working practices. Regularly review and propose improvements Identifying relevant configuration items software, hardware and documents to be managed during the satellite missions, registering items in databases and tracking any new version Ensuring that documentation is managed according to applicable working practices, including storing and registering in the DM database and timely distribution to relevant recipients Controlling changes impacting identified configuration items through lifecycle steps, in particular ensuring that any new item version is deployed only after formal review and approval of the related change Administrating the Anomaly and Change Control Boards regularly organised to review and approve anomaly correction and changes to configuration baselines Monitoring hardware and software installation activities, and the deployment of satellite, system or ground segment documentation procedures Keeping up to date the mapping between changes and software, hardware and document items, together with the mapping between software and hardware items Liaising, coordinating and organising with external operations partners joint configuration and documentation when relevant On demand, developing reporting or monitoring tools to help control the accuracy of the CM and DM databases Preparing and presenting Configuration Status Accounting Reports and documentation reports Contributing to the specification of CM or DM tool improvements, and participating in the testing of new releases Performing configuration and documentation audits The key experience and attributes sought are A minimum of five years experience in Configuration Management including build, deployment and installation processes on large softwareintensive high availability systems. Configuration and Documentation Management standards e.g. CMMI, ISO or ECSS Configuration Management tools as an administrator or advanced user e.g. Serena Dimensions, Clearcase ... Documentation Management tools as an advanced user e.g. Oracle UCM Database programming using SQL Oracle or Sybase Scripting languages e.g. Python, Perl, Javascript or vb.net And more generally, experience with software development processes Knowledge of either of the following would be advantageous Source code control tools such as CVS, Subversion or others Software development environments under UNIX Candidates must possess a University degree or equivalent.
