Thorn Satellite Data Services Thorn SDS is an independently owned service organisation specialising in the placement, management and development of technical and engineering staff within a wide range of European Space Programmes. From its Head Office in Darmstadt, Germany, Thorn supports and manages a large team of Space professionals with many different disciplines and skills, ranging from engineering, satellite scheduling, operations and maintenance. We are constantly looking to grow and develop the team and have many opportunities for candidates looking to further their careers or experience within this business. Thorn SDS is currently looking for a Consultant Programmes Scheduler to complement its team in Darmstadt, Germany and welcomes applications from interested and appropriately qualified candidates available from June onwards. The successful candidate will be working with a Project Planning and Control Team for Geostationary Satellite Programmes and will be expected to collect inputs from the various programme team members and summarise the gathered information for the management of the programme. Candidates should possess good interpersonal and communication skills to interface with management and technical contacts. The working language of this and most positions within Thorn SDS is English and all applicants should be native English speakers or, as a minimum, be able to work highly effectively in this language. Candidates must have a university degree in a management or engineering disciple and have a minimum of five years handson experience in project planning, scheduling, monitoring and control. Experience in large system developments Space Ground Segment will be considered advantageous. The candidate should be able to demonstrate Extensive handson experience in schedule preparation, monitoring and control, for complexlarge system programmes, preferably space systems, as well as in planning and monitoring the allocated resources Extensive experience in using Microsoft Project or a similar project management tool suite e.g. Primavera Knowledge of and handson experience with project management standards e.g. ECSS and project scheduling concepts and techniques
