This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is for a Data Services System Engineer with at least 5 years experience in the operations, maintenance and evolution of data services in a highly available 247 environment. The particular focus of this post is in the area of archive systems. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. The successful candidate will work with the clients Data Services Team which is responsible for the development and maintenance of all data access distribution and long term data archiving and retrieval services. The key system engineering experience sought is Analysis of legacy systems Requirements engineering Development of architectural evolutions High availability systems Virtualisation Cloud computing Grid computing Distributed webbased applications Big data management Supporting internal and external users Exploiting industry support The key software engineering experience sought is Software development andor maintenance using an objectoriented approach and following a formal lifecycle Configuration Management and anomaly reporting tracking tools The working language is English.
