This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESTEC, Noordwijk Netherlands, with initial resident assignment in Toulouse France. DUTIES The Dependability RAM and Safety Engineer will initially be assigned as integrated support to the EGNOS Project, reporting for projectspecific responsibilities to the Head of the EGNOS PAS Unit. For maintaining professional standards, contributing to corporate tasks reviews, standardisation, alerts, lessons learned, etc. and implementing ESAs general PA policy, reporting will be to the Head of Department. Training and familiarisation with the Departments mandate, processes and procedures will be provided at the start of the integrated support assignment. Specific responsibilities and tasks will include implementing general programmatic and technical dependability safety assurance requirements in relation to ESA standards and specifications establishing projectspecific programmatic and technical dependability safety assurance requirements within the ESA Product Assurance baseline framework supporting projects in evaluating contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for executing the dependability safety assurance programmes supporting projects in monitoring the performance of the contractors dependability safety assurance programmes to ensure compliance with applicable requirements, directing and controlling riskreduction processes and any necessary preventive or corrective actions evaluating dependability safety analyses, technical notes, technical risk assessments, riskreduction processes and associated preventive or corrective actions defining and controlling implementation of the applicable dependability safetyrelated acceptance requirements including riskacceptance criteria, while participating in project reviews to assess compliance with applicable requirements and formulate acceptreject recommendations evaluating proposed concepts, designs and operations for compliance with defined dependability safety requirements liaising with software product assurance and software engineering on related matters supporting research and study activities in the fields of dependability safety requirements, techniques, tools and integrated engineering process methodologies and risk management methods participating in periodic meetings with the parent section, contributing to the transfer of technical knowledge and lessons learned across the Agency. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or science, with substantial experience in dependability and safety engineering and assurance activities under aerospace or comparable projects. Experience in the dependability assessment of softwareintensive safetycritical systems or products and in electronics hardware safety assessment is required. Knowledge of ECSS standards, in particular Q30 and Q40 series, and of civil aviation standards for Software Integrity Assurance DO178. DO278 and for design assurance on electronics hardware DO254 is required, as is experience in the field of GNSS. Knowledge of ARP4754, ARP4761, EASA Certification Specifications Memoranda and EC Regulations for European Air Traffic Management, with experience of certification processes, would be an advantage. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills, being able to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. They should have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to problemsolving and an interest in innovative technologies. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. The location of the initial assignment being the ESA Office in Toulouse, a good knowledge of both these languages is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. CLOSING DATE The closing date for applications is 9 September 2015.
