EUMETSAT, Europes Meteorological Satellite Agency, invites you to join the team as Dissemination Operations Engineer You will be involved in the daytoday running of all of the dissemination systems operated by EUMETSAT, including the EUMETCast satellite data dissemination system, ensuring that our users continue to receive a high quality service. In addition, you will play a key role in the development of future systems to cope with the data dissemination needs of future EUMETSAT programmes. You will also support the development of our user base and understanding and responding to their evolving needs. As deputy to the Dissemination System Manager you will help to coordinate a team of 510 engineers and analysts. The following skills and capabilities are key to your success Project and small team management including management of activities, resources and reporting Software engineering, in particular for satellite data processing chains and processing related to satellite product validation, preferably in an operational environment Programming using CC and Fortran 95 and higher programming languages as well as scripting languages, such as Python, Perl, Shell Design, implementation and maintenance of relational and nonrelational databases preferably using Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB Satellite data processing involving large data volumes Strengths in analysis, synthesis and presentation of results Excellent technical writing skills Excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills and proven ability to apply these skills to the interactions with teams in a matrix organisation. Applicants must be nationals of EUMETSATs 30 Member States. The official languages of the organisation are English and French. To be successful, you need a good working knowledge of English, both spoken and written a knowledge of French is advantageous.
