Duke Energy to close N.C. coal plant, build $750M gas facility

Duke Energy Progress has decided to shut down it 376-megawatt coal-fired Asheville Plant and build a 650-megawatt combined-cycle natural-gas plant on the site. Duke also will build a solar farm on the site, though it will be significantly smaller than the gas facility.
