EC launches legal action against Britain over deadly air pollution

Telegraph: The European Commission has launched legal proceedings against the UK over excessive air pollution. Last May the Supreme Court ruled that the Government was failing in its legal duty to protect people from the harmful effects of nitrogen dioxide and other air-borne contaminants. At the time judges said Britain was facing 'immediate enforcement action' and today the EC announced it would begin legal proceedings.
