Terma Space operates out of Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, and the UK. Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced EPSSG System Data Processing Engineer. To ensure continuity of the core missions supported by the current EPSMetop system and to fulfil complementary user needs a followup programme EPSSG is currently being prepared by EUMETSAT. EPSSG will be the second generation of EUMETSATs polar system and as such will have a strong heritage from the existing EPS with its Metop satellites and operations, and from other elements of the EUMETSAT infrastructure in support of current programmes. Your activities will include overall system aspects involving the space segment satellites and the ground segment, consisting of the data acquisition systems, monitoring and control systems, data processing facilities and product dissemination facilities. The support will focus on general system aspects and end to end data processing and dissemination. Responsibilities Typical activities to be undertaken are System related analyses to ensure completeness and coherence of the concepts and design for end to end data processing with special focus on Establishing and maintaining the system design in the area of data dissemination including maintenance of an overall budget. Ensuring that the system design is compatible with all instrument calibration needsactivities. Ensuring that the system design takes into account all necessary auxiliary data needed for product generation Follow up of Instrument Functional Chain Teams IFCT activities from a system engineering point of view Support for the preparation and maintenance of system technical specifications Establishing and maintaining traceability between the system technical specifications and upper and lower level requirements General support to other system engineering activities for example Support documentation of system design and justification Support ad hoc internal reviews Support system level formal reviews Support space segment level activities as required Ground segment level activities as required Support IVV activities This is a fulltime position with the planned start on 1st January 2017. You will be nominally based at EUMETSATs facilities in Darmstadt, Germany, but shall be in a position to travel within Europe or worldwide. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a university degree, in the domain of engineering, science, or other suitable qualification. Essential skills are At least 5 years of experience in the field of engineering of space andor ground systems, in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO including end to end data processing aspects Ability to analyse systems from an endtoend perspective combined space and ground segment, understand relevant details while keeping the focus on the overall system aspects and to present the results in a comprehensible way Capability to prepare system requirements and design documents, and to perform systemlevel analyses for complex polar satellite systems Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English The following experience would be an additional asset Familiarity with EUMETSAT data dissemination concepts Experience with DOORs You shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan your work and cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. You shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. You shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies.
