We are currently looking for an Earth Observation Application Support Engineer to support our customer in the United Kingdom. Earth Observation Application Support Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities In this role you will be working in ESAs Climate Office and will be leading the management of activities related to climate datainformation quality assurance in relation to climate data products, standards, algorithm validation and long term preservation. You will be responsible for The definition of the Climate Change Initiative CCI data access needs, both FCDRs and ECVs, in terms of Services Coordinated Interface, coreinfrastructure, analysis and reporting, and quality control The analysis, definition, initiation and management of industrial activities, associated to the distribution of Earth Observation data from the GMECV programme and the Climate Scientific User community Acquire, archive, document and make available in CMIP5 CCI products Definition and development of the CCI Data Portal Definition and development of the CCI Tool Box Support the development of climate services, especially international and intergovernmental public sector markets, including climate data visualisation. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree or equivalent in physics, engineering or an Earth sciences discipline Extensive experience in product definition, calibration, validation, algorithm development, quality assessment and exploitation of Earth Observation data, for ESA missions in particular Established profile of dialoguing the with Earth Observation research communities in disciplines relevant for climate Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
