Engineer, Software Systems United States Princeton, New Jersey Your Job A member of the Software Engineering staff, you will be responsible for specification, design, development and support of software applications used for Ground Control System GCS. The GCS is used for command and control of 60 satellites. This include correctly formatting and sending commands to the satellite and visually representing spacecraft telemetry in human readable format in realtime. In addition to the supporting realtime processing, the GCS team also develops and maintains offline tools to support engineering analysis. Your Responsibilities Work with an experienced team using agile methodologies and the Scrum framework Develop highquality software requirements user stories, designs and architectures for the Ground Control System used for command and control of 60 satellites Design and implement software that addresses complex requirements, perform associated software unit testing and software integration. Have the ability to read and understand legacy baselines in different languages Design user interfaces that lay on top of a layered architecture Define and build APIs for a layered architecture Maintain the existing software baselines by addressing software bug and software change requests Perform peer reviews, integration testing, and validation during the software development lifecycle Automate the development cycle via continuous integration Work with external vendors and internal operations staff to provide technical expertise Communicate progress and problems to management, estimate a lead project work schedules and anticipating and avoiding problems Keep uptodate with latest technologies Satellite knowledge a plus Your Profile Bachelors degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology Programming languages experience C, C, andor JAVA Strong ObjectOriented Design OOD experience Single responsibility principle Dependency injection Designcode to interfaces At least 5 years software engineering experience Understanding of software quality management Experience with Python Experience with Agile methodologies Experience with GIT andor BitBucket Experience with SQL MySQL, MS SQL Server Experience with Integrated Development Environment IDE ie Eclipse, Visual Studio, etc Experience in utilities programming, debuggers and debugging techniques Experience with Linux Experience with TCPIP protocols and messaging applications Ability to set priorities and to work under tight deadlines Work independently as well as in a team Easiness to communicate at all levels Fluency in spoken and written English with additional languages considered an asset Other Key RequirementsComments Work with cross discipline teams such as spacecraft engineering and spacecraft operations Ability to explain complex concepts to nontechnical stakeholders. Work on an iterative basis with stakeholders during design and prototyping Oncall will be required as software engineering supports spacecraft operations 24x7 Relentless focus on collaboration and teamwork Work with remote management and team members Proven mindset of helping others to succeedmentoring Excellent written and verbal communication skills Commitment to deadlines and willingness to meet the needs of 24x7 environment Domestic and international travel required For US based positions must be US Citizen or Green Card Holder Whats in it for you?
