German regulator bans Facebook from sharing data from WhatsApp, Instagram

2019-02-07 19:41:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Germany's Federal Cartel Office has decided to prohibit Facebook from collecting the data of users from its services WhatsApp and Instragram, as well as third-party websites with Facebook integration. By not obtaining sufficient user consent for collecting the data from other apps and sites, the company abused its dominant position in the market and violated EU personal data protection law, the German regulator said.
