Hobo Night a Homewood hit
2014-10-13 03:05:16| Railroads - Topix.net
About 100 families showed up Saturday night at Homewood's Rail Park for the town's Hobo Night, an annual event that brings children railside for music, s'mores and stories about the homeless migrant workers who illegally traveled on freight trains in the 19th and 20th centuries. The event was hosted by the Homewood Railroad Committee, an all-volunteer group created to celebrate Homewood's extensive railroad history, which includes more than a century on the Illinois Central and Canadian National main line and, more recently, stops on the Amtrak and Metra lines.
