DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the eye of Hurricane Hector was located near latitude 14.0 North, longitude 127.8 West. Hector is moving toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h). This general motion is expected to continue through the weekend. Maximum sustained winds are near 105 mph (165 km/h) with higher gusts. Some gradual strengthening is forecast, and Hector is expected to become a major hurricane within the next day or two. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles (30 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km).
