Terma Space operates out of Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany, and the UK. Job description Our customer, EUMESAT, will be managing the routine mission operations of the Sentinel3 low Earth orbiting spacecraft for the European Copernicus programme. The first Sentinel3 spacecraft is scheduled for launch in October 2015. We are looking for an Instrument Data Processing Engineer to provide consultancy support to Copernicus Sentinel3 operations as part of the Data Processing Operations Team of the RSO Division at EUMETSAT. Responsibilities The Instrument Data Processing Engineer IDPE will perform tasks mainly related to instrument data processing in support of Copernicus Sentinel3 Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS, during the routine spacecraft operations phase. The IDPE will start before launch of Sentinel3, and support the commissioning and early operations, as well as the configuration and tuning of the PDGS. The tasks primarily cover the support to the operation of the various data processing components including Data ingestion, processing and product distribution Data and Product analysis Testing and implementation of new products Settingup and implementation of operational procedures and documentation Anomaly investigation First line maintenance Coordination with external organisations and service providers Attendance at technical meetings Participation in formal reviews This is a fulltime position in Darmstadt, Germany with a planned starting date in mid of October 2015 and may include standby and callout support outside normal working hours. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have an university degree, in information technology, computer science or similar discipline or other suitable qualification together with at least 3 years experience in operations of realtime satellite instrument data processing systems. Essential skills are Demonstrated experience in Instrument data processing of Level0 data and generation distribution of meteorological andor environmental products Demonstrated experience in Near real time data driven automated systems in large computer networks Significant experience of validating complex remote sensing data processing systems Demonstrated experience with UNIXLinux operating systems fluency in English spoken and written, as English is the working language Desirable skills are Imaging and sounding instrumentation for remote sensing spacecraft Development and maintenance of operational procedures and configuration data Programming Languages e.g. C, C and IDL Scripting Languages and Data Bases e.g. Perl, Python, shell, Oracle Spacecraft andor ground segment operations Communication protocols TCPIIP, MBSS Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems CCSDS formats Knowledge andor experience of geophysical remote sensing data processing, e.g. Image Navigation and Registration INR, radiometric correction, calibration algorithms and retrieval of geophysical parameters Knowledge of French You must be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, demonstrating analytical approach and attention to detail. You shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision.
