Moreover, we actively manage your professional development, training and career progression. For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a LEO Spacecraft Operations Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks The Key person shall work in the Operations and Services to Users Department as a member of the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team. The key person shall be primarily assigned to the Metop Attitude and Orbit Control System AOCS operations and trained to provide operations expertise and support to further platform subsystems and or payload instruments, depending on his or her experience and the overall team needs. The key person shall also participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. Furthermore, the key person shall support system and operations preparation activities for MetopC, for Metop Second Generation satellites and possibly also for Sentinel6, particularly with respect to AOCS related activities. The key person shall be required to support operations during normal working hours, as well as support the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis. The tasks of the Key person will typically include Support to the routine operations of Metop A, B and preparing for MetopC, comprising Provision of operational expertise to the Attitude and Orbit Control System in particular, with support to other platform subsystems andor payload instruments andor onboard software management, satellite simulator and ground Segment operations interfaces. Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary Investigations into satellite anomalies. This may require a close cooperation with the Operations Support Entity in ESTEC and Industry Support the coordination of partner agency interactions for relevant subsystemsinstruments Participation in the satellite oncall support rota Identification and support to implementation of system and process improvements concerning the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team responsibilities and interfaces. Support to the system and operations preparation of Metop Second Generation satellites Provide inputs and or review the definition of system and satellite operational concepts Review space to ground interface specifications and flight operations manuals Support the definition of tools and processes required to prepare for and operate the satellites. Support to the system and operations preparation of other LEO satellites Provide operations preparation support as required to the Sentinel6 development. Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have a demonstrated experience in at least two of the following mandatory skills, with a particular emphasis on ThreeAxis Stabilised Attitude and Orbit Control Systems Spacecraft monitor and control operations Spacecraft operations preparation engineering Low Earth Orbit spacecraft design or Assembly Integration and Test activities at system or subsystem level. Strong data analysis, processing and synthesis skills. Desirable requirements Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key person to have experience with some of the following Inorbit operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities The procedure development tool MOIS and the procedure execution language STOL The mission control systems EPOCH or SCOS Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedure and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts Familiarity with the ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, customisation and usage Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures Data analysis software packages such as MATLAB File parsing languages such as PERL, AWK Use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. Ability to recognise opportunities for improvements in areas of work and implement appropriate solutions Other Information Start date is as soon as possible.
