Location ESA Headquarters, Paris, France Description Launch System Engineer in the Ariane 6 Launch System Architect, Launchers Development Department, Directorate of Space Transportation Duties The post is under the hierarchical responsibility of the Ariane 6 Launch System Architect Manager and integrated in the Ariane Project Team APT located at ESA HQD premises in Paris, the postholder will be responsible for the daytoday management of tasks related to Ariane 6 launch system development activities including Launch System Definition Control by generation of Launch System Interface Identification Documents and Interface Control Data starting from Launcher System and Launch Base external interface definition data Mastering the definition and the implementation of an interface control data maturation plan and securing its timely implementation through interaction with Launcher System and Launch Base Prime Contractors Followingup technical assistance teams located at Daumesnil Paris FR and Les Mureaux Paris area FR premises and supporting ESA in the Launch System Definition Control task Proposing effective solutions for the management of interface control data in the flow of Launch System verification activities in synergy with the product lifecycle management tools adopted by the Launch Service Provider and the Launcher System Prime Contractor Defining and maintaining performance indicators concerning the implementation of the interface control data maturation plan and the preparation of Operational Qualification Reviews of Ariane 6 Interfacing the Launch System Verification and the Launch System Integration and Test teams to secure they have interface control data on quality and on time Producing expected values for the launch system tests results by running analyses and simulation campaigns as necessary and supported by technical assistance teams Supporting the definition and implementation of a Configuration Control procedure making best use of the adopted interface control data management systems Setting up and implementing the procedure for the Ariane 6 Launch System Operational Qualification Review 1 and 2. Responsibilities of the incumbent include the following duties Supporting Ariane 6 Launch System Change Board process Monitoring the schedule, risks and costeffective implementation of the relevant procurements as well as the maintenance of uptodate related technical budgets Supporting the launch system risk management for the topics of hisher concern Coordinating the specialised technical assistance from the Directorate of Technical and Quality Management DTEC, CNESDirection des Lanceurs and industry partners in the appropriate areas of competence Approving technical notes prepared by the technical assistants Coordinating with the Ariane 6 Launcher Project STSDA and Ariane 6 Launch Base Project STSDB organisations of the Space Transportation Development Department. Technical competencies Multidisciplinary knowledge of area of responsibility Knowledge of industrial costs and schedule aspects Knowledge of other technical domains with interfaces to own area of responsibility Space system development and PA standards Complex project risk management processes Knowledge of ESA and industrial development, verification and procurement processes Behavioural competencies Communication Planning Organisation Problem Solving Responsible DecisionMaking Results Orientation Teamwork Education Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in the field of launcher engineering, with a minimum 10 years background in the field of space transportation. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests.
