(Telecompaper) The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has allocated 4G spectrum to three bidders. A total of 270 MHz of spectrum in the 1800 MHz and 2.5 GHz spectrum bands was made available for allocation in the 4G auction and three bidders submitted initial offers for spectrum at the reserve prices set by IDA. As the total amount of spectrum demanded in the initial offers did not exceed the amount of spectrum available in either spectrum band, the regulator has provisionally allocated spectrum to each bidder at the reserve price. M1 obtained 80 MHz of spectrum at a total price of SGD 104 million (40 MHz in the 1800 MHz band and 40 MHz in the 2.5 GHz band. SingTel was allocated 100 MHz of spectrum at a total price of SGD 136 million (60 MHz in the 1800 MHz band and 40 MHz in the 2.5 GHz band), and StarHub obtained 90 MHz of spectrum at a total price of SGD 120 million (50 MHz in the 1800 MHz band and 40 MHz in the 2.5 GHz band). The next stage of the 4G auction, the Assignment Stage, will determine the placement of the spectrum lots acquired by bidders.
