It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy has arisen for a Microwave Instrument Expert with Airbus Defence and Space in Portsmouth. You will have an expert role within the Instruments Payloads team providing specific system and instrumentlevel domain knowledge in spacebased active and passive microwave earth observation. The successful candidate will be subject to security clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Design and development of flight microwave instruments, including support to customer and supplier design reviews. Instrument performance analysis, including understanding of overall system requirements and translation to instrument performance parameters. Technical specification and oversight of procured instrument equipments and subassemblies. Support to instrument integration, test and verification. Support to development of microwave instrument product line, including development of prospects and proposals for EO instrument opportunities. Support the role of design authority for active and passive microwave instruments. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Honours Degree in Physics, Electronics or related Engineering discipline OR Msc in an appropriate subject. Extensive experience of Microwaves Radiometers and quasioptic design. Experience required in microwave instrument specification, design and testing. Experience of flight instrument payload development life cycle. Knowledge of Spacecraft systems, Satellite instruments and payloads, Microwave sensors. Specific and demonstrated heritage in the domain of microwave radiometers. Knowledge of radiometer performance assessment, Knowledge of passive microwave critical technologies. Previous experience working with ESA or Eumetsat customer. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
