The successful applicant shall perform tasks related to mission control system operations and engineering For Copernicus Sentinel3 mission for routine Sentinel3A operations, as well as for the commissioning phase for Sentinel3B leading to the routine operations phase for the dual satellite system. For the Copernicus Sentinel6JasonCS mission for routine operations of S6. The activity shall require the full time presence of the Key Person on site at EUMETSAT. The ideal candidate shall perform mission control system operations, including Scheduling and coordination of daily operations Monitor the status of the mission control system and perform daily checks to confirm nominal status and performance Monitor the status of the mission control system interfaces to other facilities Perform anomaly investigations Provision of support, as required, to critical andor special operations Contribute to the design, development, documentation and maintenance of mission control operations procedures identified from operational needs Contribute to the design, development, documentation and maintenance of system and ground segment procedures identified from operational needs Contribute to the design, development, documentation and maintenance of specific toolscripts identified from operational needs Additionally, the successful candidate will focus hisher activities on the following shall provide expertise in operational ground segment operations shall provide training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other parties involved in Operations including controllers, analysts and engineers. shall contribute to the design, development, documentation and maintenance of tools that provide statistics reports and support the monitoring and operations of the mission control system, as requested shall contribute to the generation, maintenance and update of mission control system operations related design, user documentation, procedures or operations guides, for example as a result of a system update or a validation activity, in accordance with the established EUMETSAT Operations Department configuration management and quality assurance practices. shall liaise and coordinate as required with the ground segment facility operations teams and system operations analysts to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment and mission operations through procedure and operations guide updates, configuration changes, database or user interface changes etc. shall acquire and maintain an operational view of the ground segment, in particular the space and ground segment operational needs for mission control shall review any planned changes or evolutions to the system configurations for the ground segment to assess potential operational impacts with respect to the mission control system shall interface with teams responsible for the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrades shall contribute to validation campaigns, including operations validation tests, participating in the coordination, planning and execution of these campaigns as needed, including TRRsTRBsFATsOSATsORR, etc for ground segment components and operations Ideal candidate Knowledge and experience with the following is considered essential for the Key Person A university degree or equivalent in a discipline relevant to the job profile At least 3 years experience in the operation of spacecraft control systems using SCOS2000 At least 3 years experience of developing andor maintaining spacecraft mission control systems software Demonstrated experience in the definition and implementation of the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems Demonstrated experience with UNIXLinux operating systems The Key Person shall be able to communicate effectively in English verbally and written The successful candidate shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work under pressure and with a minimum of supervision. Furthermore, it would be highly desirable for the key person to have experience with or knowledge of some of the following It is highly desirable that the Key Person has experience with or knowledge of some of the following Experience in the use of databases and SQLrelated querying in relation to spacecraft mission control systems Experience in the definition, development, integration and acceptance testing of spacecraft mission control systems Experience in the operations preparation and routine operations of Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems Experience of Oracle databases Experience of using configuration management systems such as CVS Experience of using satellite simulators Familiarity with ECSS and CCSDS standards related to spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Monitoring Control Systems Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS Packet Utilisation Standard, etc. Familiarity with flight dynamics and mission planning functions and systems as applied to satellite operations.
