Position Reference 105 You will have the opportunity to support the Space Segment Performance Engineering Activities within Earth Observation Domain at ESTEC premises, Netherlands. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include You will develop, implement, and validate complex performance models of optical spaceborne instruments, in particular passive spectrometers instruments, dedicated to atmospheric missions You will perform the assessment of the instruments system performance as well as subsystems eg. Optics, focal plane assembly, calibration contributing to the instruments performances You will contribute to mission performance assessment by liaising with the science support team to support both the mission related scientific studies and the instrument design evolution. You will contribute to meetings within ESA, industry and potentially with users. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Physics or Engineering with background in Optical Engineering. You are familiar with computer programs such as Excel, MathCAD and MATLAB andor Python. You have good communication skills. You are familiar with optical design and performance assessment software like Zemax, ASAP, FRED, with specific emphasis on straylight simulation aspects You are able to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule. You are able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the outside world. You are fluent in the English language spoken and written knowledge of other languages is an asset.
