(Telecompaper) Oracle is expanding further in the telecoms market with the acquisition of Tekelec for an undisclosed amount.
Oracle already offers a range of OSS/BSS platforms for telecom operators, and last month it announced an agreement to take over SBC provider Acme Packet for USD 1.7 billion. It's now buying Tekelec to add network signaling, policy control and subscriber data management systems to its portfolio. Tekelec counts over 300 service providers in over 100 countries as customers. The US-based company's management and over 1,000 employees are expected to move to Oracle after the deal closes. Further details of the takeover were not disclosed.
